UNITED STATES & JAMAICA EXTRADITION TREATY

Jamaica and the US entered into an extradition treaty on June 4, 1983. The treaty became a part of the domestic law of Jamaica by the Extradition (Foreign States) Order, 1991, which was published in the Jamaica Gazette Supplement, Proclamation, Rules and Regulations on June 27, 1991. As a consequence of the treaty, Parliament enacted the Extradition Act, 1991, which received the governor general's assent on March 14, 1991 and came into operation on July 8, 1991.

Former US President Ronald Reagan ratified the treaty, with the advice and consent of the Senate, on August 17, 1984. The treaty was ratified on behalf of the Government of Jamaica by Carl Rattray, the then minister of justice, on May 3, 1997.

Who is Christopher Michael "Dudus" Coke?

Jamaica area don Tivoli Gardens

Name: Michael Christopher Coke
Alias: Dudus, Short Man or President
Birthplace: Kingston Jamaica

Christopher Coke affectionately called ‘Dudus’ ‘Short Man’ or ‘President’ is an area don representing an area of West Kingston known as Tivoli Gardens.

He is described as someone who shuns the limelight and who would rather be heard than seen. He hates the media spotlight unlike other dons who readily display their wealth and power.

He is considered a bright young man and a successful Jamaican businessman. He was the director of Incomparable Enterprise up to December 2002. That company received millions of dollars in state contracts annually. His other company, Presidential Click, stages the biggest weekly street dance - 'Passa Passa' - in Jamaica, plus what is now a dancehall calendar event, 'Champions In Action'.

Besides being a “legit” businessman, he is considered one of the more influential area leaders whose power reaches beyond the shores of Jamaica. Dudus manages a network of criminal associates across Jamaica, the Caribbean, North America and the United Kingdom, according to key police sources.

The US Government would like to have him in their court to try him for drug trafficking among other charges. He faces a life sentence of convicted of charges filed against him in New York.
